John MacKay, Principal

On behalf of the staff at Woodstock High School, I want to extend to you a warm welcome and encourage you to begin with the end in mind: graduation. In order for you to achieve this goal, you need to consider demonstrating the following habits:

1. Be proactive (the habit of CHOICE) – do not wait until the last minute to get things done – attend to school work in a quality manner and pass your work in on or before the due date.
2. Begin with the end in mind; every choice you make today affects what will happen tomorrow – keep the big picture in mind at all times.
3. Attend to first things first – set your priorities – attend to what is urgent and important – do not forget to spend time on what is important but not urgent – use your student agenda.
4. Seek first to understand then to be understood – cooperate – seek out information before you judge a situation – utilize this introduction “Can you help me? Help me understand…”
5. Think win/win – build healthy, positive relationships with others – do not rob others of their dignity or education.
6. Synergize – work as part of a team – get involved in what the school has to offer.
7. Sharpen your saw – make healthy choices – your mind and body deserve the best.
In conclusion, you are responsible for the choices you make, so begin by making good ones.

All the best,

John MacKay
